Distributing Video Draft to 3 clients

I've decided to distribute the rough video draft to 3 clients: Christina, Camille and Carl.

I figure it will be easier to teach them the routine if they have a rough approximation of what to expect.

After all 3 of them are comfortable with the routine, I'll Flip video them.  Merge extracted clips into a single and submit to MJ's estate executors with a proposal for a workout DVD to MJ's music.

Draft of Exercise Choreography for 1st MJ Song

Edited a segment of a kickbox exercise DVD to The Way You Make Me Feel song.  Considered a draft to work on final exercise choreography.

Ooops....

I got the CD back from my friend and it was missing a song!  It was my fault, as one of the music files was in a wrong directory.

Hopefully he can burn another CD for me.

Re-watched the YouTube videos of performances for the songs.  I'm going to watch several kickboxing exercise videos to start the unconsious process of integrating the two.

Final Song line-up

1. The Way You Make Me Feel
2. Wanna Be Startin' Something
3. Black or White
4. Jam
5. Smooth Criminal
6. Thriller
7. Billie Jean
8. Beat It
9. Can't Stop Lovin' You

Finished the MJ song edits

Finished the MJ song edits yesterday.  I've got them all around the 3 minute mark except for Billie Jean.  I decided to leave that alone at over 4 minutes because I'll make that the grand finale to the routine.

I'm in the process of figuring out the order and to determine if I need to add more songs to balance out the workout.

2 More Song Edits and choreography thoughts

Getting better at using the software tools.  Looking forward to finish.

Decided that one song will be good to start as a warm-up.  That song is "The Way You Make Me Feel".

Thinking I'll have 3 different levels of difficulty for each song.  For beginners they will do the same routine for all 3 minutes.  For advanced, they'll add another routine beginning in minute 2 to finish.  For expert, it will be "beginning" for 1st minute, "advanced" 2nd minute and "expert" final minute.

I'll see if this holds up when I start physically moving through the choreography.

Song Edits and Training Basic Moves

I've got 3 minute or less edits of 3 songs so far...

I've begun training clients on  basic kickboxing moves to be part of exercise choreography.

Fun stuff!  :-)

Time to review the songs and see which part will break into 3 minute segments.

So it begins...

It all began when I gave a presentation on how exercise helps strengthen the brain against dementia caused by aging. One of the audience members told me later that I need to make exercise fun in order to motivate people to do it.

Then a friend shared with me a You Tube instructional video of Travis Payne, Michael Jackson's choreographer, on a routine called "The Drill".

The purpose was to get people to learn the routine and then come to promotional late night events for the release of the DVD "This is It". I then saw the videos of people from all over the country coming together and having a good time.

As I watched the instructional video I realized that I could design similar short aerobic routines that I could insert into the workout programs for my clients. The precision and coordination with the music would be perfect for working out both the body and the brain. Best of all, it would be fun.

However, I'm going to have to get into shape to design the routines. Therefore, I'm going to use Michael Jackson's music to design a workout program for myself.

The goal is to do a 45 to 50 minute choreographed routine of MJ's music one year from today.

To start I trolled YouTube and put together a playlist of performances of the songs I'll be using as source material.
